Music, Pharmaceutical Companies Worst Enemy
I will be starting a series of articles about the effects of music on the brain and how people have had healing results listening to music as well as performing it. I myself have been actually healed in many ways by performing, composing and listening to music. It seems that music has its own unique way of entering the cells in the body, starting with the brain and all the body's senses filtering the goodness of sound vibrations and healing colors as music is being played, composed and listened to. Jazz is my music and I've been involved with it for over 55 years.
I will actually get into some serious examples of how I have been effected by music since I was a young child growing up hanging around with John Coltrane, Elvin Jones,Hank Jones,Thad Jones,Mel Lewis,Jimmy Garrison and so many others. I will also talk about my growing up living with Duke Ellington's family, Ruth Ellington, Steve James, Michael James,Mercer Ellington and hanging around Duke Ellington's publishing company during my teen years. I will talk about all my lifetime experiences in music so that others who might have experienced illnesses, injury from accidents, divorces, losses of loved ones, hard financial times and other traumatic events, might benefit from what I have discovered in my own trials which are not formal medical trials as I am only one person in the trial and not thousands that are required to get FDA approval for MUSIC AS A HEALING DRUG.
It should prove to be interesting. All musicians are invited to post or send information about your own experiences and perhaps we will be able to document and do a trial of our own within the Jazz Field, avoiding all the corporate, political and business bullshit that is typical to get valuable information across to medical practitioners.
